The Candidates tournament is played in Moscow on March 10-29, 2016. The winner of this double round round robin event advances to the World Chess Championship Match with the World Champion Magnus Carlsen (Norway).

Time control: 100 minutes for 40 moves, then 50 minutes for 20 moves, then 15 minutes for the rest of the game. Each move from the move 1 adds extra 30 seconds on the players' clocks. 

The playing days: March 11-13, 15-17, 19-21, 23-25, 27-28. Rest days: March 14, 18, 22, 26.

All games begin at 3 pm Moscow time. 

Prize fund: 420,000 Euro.
