Aleksei Pridorozhni Wins Russian Rapid Championship

Daria Voit triumphs in the women's event.

The Russian Rapid Championships among men, women and seniors finished in the Grand Hotel Zhemchuzhina in Sochi. 

In the open event, GMs Aleksei Pridorozhni, Aleksandr Shimanov, Ivan Rozum, Dmitry Bocharov, Dmitry Kokarev, IM David Zakaryan, and GM Pavel Ponkratov scored 8.5 points out 11. Pridorozhni became the Russian rapid champion due to his superior tie-break. Shimanov is second, while Rozum is third. 

WGM Daria Voit became the Russian rapid champion among women with 9 points scored. FM Ekaterina Goltseva (2nd place) and IM Anastasia Bodnaruk (3rd place) are half a point behind. 

GM Evgeny Sveshnikov took the first place in the seniors' event having got 7.5 points out of 10 and edged out IM Evgenij Kalegin (2nd place), GM Yuri Balashov (3rd place), and GM Oleg Nikolenko (4th place).  

WIM Ilena Krasenkova showed the best result among senior women - 8 points out of 10. Marina Aseeva (2nd place) and WIM Nina Sirotkina (3rd place) are trailing by 1 point. 

Tournament on Chess-Results

The Russian Blitz Championships will be played in Sochi on October 17.
