European Youth Championship Starts in Riga

The European Youth Chess Championship 2018 takes place in the capital of Latvia on August 19th-30th. The Championship gathered almost 1100 players coming from 46 European federations, and will be played in 6 age categories (12 open and girls groups): U8, U10, U12, U14, U16 and U18.

Russia is represented by 150 participants, including such well-known players as Lev Zverev (B08), Diana Preobrazhenskaya (G08), Artem Pingin, Savva Vetokhin, Gordey Kolesov (B10), Alexandra Shvedova, Yana Zhapova, Olesia Vlasova, Sofya Svergina, Anna Shukhman (G10), Volodar Murzin, Ilya Makoveev, Robert Safin (B12), Magrarita Zvereva (G12), Dmitry Tsoi, Rudik Makarian (B14), Leya Garifullina, Eva Stepanyan, Viktoriya Loskutova, Galina Mironenko, Viktoriia Kirchei (G14), Tagir Salemgareev, Kirill Shubin, Aram Eritsyan, Yaroslav Remizov (B16), Ekaterina Goltseva, Kamaliya Bulatova, Anastasia Zotova (G16), Artur Gaifullin (B18), Alexandra Obolentseva, Anna Afonasieva, Aleksandra Dimitrova (G18) and many others.   

The Opening Ceremony was held on August 19th. The match days: August 20th-24th and August 26th-29th. August 25th is a free day.
