Garry Kasparov Starts with Three Draws in Saint Louis
Ian Nepomniachtchi is one of the leaders.
On August 14, the first 3 games of the Saint Louis Rapid & Blitz tournament, where the legendary 13th World Champion Garry Kasparov is taking part, were played. The first competition day was rather hard for Kasparov, but the greatest chess player of all time still managed to save a tough position against Nakamura. His games against Karjakin and Dominguez were drawn as well. Standings (2 points for a win, 1 point for a draw):
1-4. Le Quang Liem, Levon Aronian, Fabiano Caruana, Ian Nepomniachtchi - 4
5-8. Hikaru Nakamura, Sergey Karjakin, Garry Kasparov, Leinier Dominguez - 3
9-10. Viswanathan Anand, David Navara - 1.
On the second day, three more rounds of the rapid event will be played.
