Aleksey Goganov Becomes St. Petersburg Champion

Anna Styazhkina won the women's championship.

The 89th men's championship of St. Petersburg ended on March 30. Grandmaster Aleksey Goganov became a new champion, collecting 8.5 out of 11. International master Maksim Chigaev finished second with 8 points. Sergey Lobanov was third with 7 points. 

Anastasia Bodnaruk participated in the men's championship and finished 6th with 5.5 points. 

Grandmaster Aleksey Goganov (born in St. Petersburg on July 26, 1991, studied at the Anichkov Palace) won the city championship for the second time. His first title was achieved in 2008. He participated in Russian Superfinal of 2013 and in the 2015 World Cup. 


International master Anna Styazhkina won the women's championship with 8 out of 9. WFM Victoria Chernyak took the second place with 6.5 points, WFM Dina Belen'kaya was third with 6 points. 

New St. Petersburg champion Anna Styazhkina was born on June 5, 1997. Her father is a grandmaster, and her mother is also a grandmaster and a five-time St. Petersburg champion.
