Pavel Eljanov Retains The Lead in Wijk Aan Zee

Sergey Karjakin won his first game.

After three rounds of the traditional supertournament in Wijk aan Zee, the Ukrainian Pavel Eljanov remains on top of the table with two wins and a draw. Sergey Karjakin won his first game, beating Loek van Wely. Dmitry Andreikin drew as White against Magnus Carlsen, and Ian Nepomniachtchi lost to the Chinese Wei Yi.

Grandmaster Ragger won all three games in the side event and leads the table, half a point ahead of Smirin. The only Russian in that tournament, Vladimir Dobrov is tied for third place with 2 points.
