Russian Championships Higher League Starts in Yaroslavl

Technical meeting and drawing of lots were held.

Yaroslavl hosts the Higher League of the 72nd Russian Championship and the 69th Russian Women's Championship. 59 players are taking part in the open section, while 49 participants are competing in the women's event.

Tournament Director Alexander Tkachev and Chief Arbiter Alexey Moskvin conducted the technical meeting, which took place on June 26. 

The drawing of lots was held as well: rating favorites of both events (Vladimir Fedoseev and Alisa Galliamova) and other participants with odd starting numbers will play with the black pieces in the first round. 

The event is a 9-round Swiss tournament with one free day. The match days: June 27 - July 1 and July 3-6. July 2 is the tournament's free day. All rounds start at 3 p.m. (Moscow time). 

Top 5 finishers in each tournament receive the right to play in the 2019 Russian Championships Superfinals.
