World Senior Team Championship Takes Place in Rhodes

Russians pursue leaders.

The fourth round of the World Senior Team Championship finished in Rhodes on April 19. 

In the "65+" group, the Russian team drew the match with Germany (Evgeny Sveshnikov won, Yuri Balashov and Nukhim Rashkovsky made draws, while Nikolai Pushkov lost). Team Saint Petersburg lost to Finland-3 1.5-2.5 (Vladimir Shushpanov won, Vadim Faibisovich made a draw, while Vladimir Karasev and Igor Blechzin lost their games).

Finland-3 is leading the race with 8 match points (11 game points). Russia (10.5 game points), Saint Petersburg, Israel, Iceland-2 (10 game points all), and Sweden-1 (9,5) are 2 match points behind. 

In the "50+" tournament, the Russian women's team lost to Canada 1.5-2.5 (Tatiana Grabuzova won, Natalia Titorenko made a draw, while Galina Strutinskaia and Elena Fatalibekova lost their games). 

Team USA is leading the pack with 8 match points (12 game points). Russian Women have scored 4 match points.
