The World Men's Team Championship is played on April 18-29 in Tsaghkadzor, Armenia.

Russia is the defending champion and is represented by Alexander Grischuk, Sergey Karjakin, Evgeny Tomashevsky, Dmitry Jakovenko, and Nikita Vitiugov.

Other main contenders are the three-time Olympiad champions from Armenia (Levon Aronian, Gabriel Sargissian, Sergey Movsesian, Vladimir Akopian, Hrant Melkumian), the two-time Olympiad champions from Ukraine (Vassily Ivanchuk, Ruslan Ponomariov, Pavel Eljanov, Alexander Moiseenko, Yury Krivoruchko), and the champions of the latest 2014 Olympiad, team China (Bu Xiangzhi, Ding Liren, Yu Yangyi, Wei Yi, Wang Chen). Strong teams from Israel, Hungary, Cuba, India, USA, and Egypt are also present at the championship.

The event is played from April 19 to April 28, April 24 is a rest day. All rounds except the last one start at 2 pm Moscow time, the last round starts at 10 am Moscow time.

The time control: 90 minutes for 40 moves + 30 minutes for the rest of the game + 30 seconds added after each move.

Each team receives two points for winning the match, one point for a draw, and zero points for a loss. If any teams finish with equal game points, the tie shall be resolved as follows:

1) by board points in total;

2) if a tie again results, the scores obtained by the tying teams against each other will decide;

3) if a tie again results, then Berger system will be used.
