17th international tournament of Anatoly Karpov takes place on July 22 - August 1, 2016 in Poikovsky.

For the second year in a row this tournament is organized in association with the ACP. The ACP nominee is grandmaster Igor Kovalenko.

The lineup: Dmitry Andreikin (Russia, 2733), Radoslaw Wojtaszek (Poland, 2733), Dmitry Jakovenko (Russia, 2712), Maxim Matlakov (Russia, 2684), Ilya Smirin (Israel, 2676), Igor Kovalenko (Latvia, 2667), Alexander Motylev (Russia, 2660), Anton Korobov (Ukraine, 2656), Viorel Bologan (Moldova, 2654), Emil Sutovsky (Israel, 2622).

Time control: 100 minutes for 40 moves + 50 minutes for the rest of the game with 30 bonus second after each move.

The tournament in Poikovsky is organized since 2000. Among the past winners are such star players as Sergey Karjkin, Peter Svidler, Alexander Grischuk, Alexander Morozevich, Dmitry Jakovenko, and Alexei Shirov. Viorel Bologan holds the record of three tournament victories in Poikovsky.
