The first leg of the 2019 FIDE Grand Prix will take place in the Central Chess Club (Gogolevsky Blvd, 14/1) in Moscow on May 16-29. The tournament is a knock-out event with 16 players. There will be four rounds.

Schedule:

May 17-18 – Round 1, May 19 – Tie-break

May 20-21 – Round w, May 22 - Tie-break

May 23-24 – Semi-final, May 25 – Tie-break

May 27-28 – Final, May 29 – Tie-break.

May 26 is a rest day. 

All rounds begin at 3 p.m. A pre-start press conference and the Opening Ceremony will be held on May 16.   

The time control for each game is: 90 minutes for the first 40 moves, followed by 30 minutes for the rest of the game with an increment of 30 seconds per move starting from move 1.

In case of a tie, after a drawing of colors, 2 tie-break games are played with time control of 25 minutes for each player + 10 seconds increment per move, starting from move 1. If the score is still, then after a new drawing of colors, 2 games are played with time control of 10 minutes for each player + 10 seconds increment per move, starting from move 1. If the scores are level after these games, then after a new drawing of colors, 2 games are played with time control of 5 minutes for each player + 3 seconds increment per move, starting from move 1.

If the score is still level, then 1 sudden death game is played. The player who wins the drawing of lots may choose the color. The player with the white pieces receives 5 minutes; the player with the black pieces receives 4 minutes whereupon; after move 60, both players receive an increment of 2 seconds per move starting from move 61. In case of a draw the player with the black pieces is declared the winner.

The minimum prize fund amounts to 130,000 euros.
