Aleksey Grebnev and Rudik Makarian Start World Junior Championship with Wins

The FIDE World Junior Championship has kicked off in the Indian city of Gandhinagar.
In the open tournament, Russians Aleksey Grebnev and Rudik Makarian won their games as Black. The biggest upset of the first round was the defeat of the tournament top seed Abhimanyu Mishra (USA) as White to Harshit Pawar (India).
In the girls' section, Anna Zhurova drew her game against Jelena Koksa (Croatia). Other rating favourites were stronger than their rivals.
The games start at 12:30 pm Moscow time.
