Alexander Grischuk Advances to Final of FIDE Grand Prix Leg in Hamburg

The Russian defeated Maxime Vachier-Lagrave.


The second semifinal games were played at the FIDE Grand Prix leg organized by World Chess in Hamburg. 

Alexander Grischuk achieved a strategically important victory against Maxime Vachier-Lagrave to become the first finalist. Having White pieces, the Russian grandmaster got a certain edge after the opening, methodically increased it and finally outplayed his opponent in the bishop vs. knight endgame. 

Daniil Dubov and Jan-Krzysztof Duda made the second draw and will determine the winner on tiebreak tomorrow, November 13.
