Alexander Grischuk Shares 2-4 Places at Superbet Chess Classic

The Superbet Chess Classic tournament, the first event of the 2021 Grand Chess Tour, finished in Bucharest. In the final 9th round, the games Vachier-Lagrave - Mamedyarov, Giri - Grischuk, Aronian - Radjabov, Lupulescu - So, and Caruana - Deac were drawn.

 

 
Final standings after Round 9:

1. Shakhriyar Mamedyarov - 6
2-4. Levon Aronian, Alexander Grischuk, Wesley So - 5
5-6. Anish Giri, Teimour Radjabov - 4.5
7-8. Bogdan-Daniel Deac, Fabiano Caruana - 4
9-10. Constantin Lupulescu, Maxime Vachier-Lagrave - 3.5.

The next GCT event, the Paris Rapid & Blitz, will be held on June 16-23 and will feature Vladimir Kramnik, Ian Nepomniachtchi, Peter Svidler (all from Russia), Fabiano Caruana, Wesley So (both from the USA), Levon Aronian (Armenia), Maxime Vachier-Lagrave, Etienne Bacrot (both from France), Teimour Radjabov (Azerbaijan), Richard Rapport (Hungary), and Alireza Firouzja (FIDE).
