Alexander Ovechkin Makes Ceremonial Move One in the Moscow FIDE Grand Prix Final Tie-Break

A famous hockey player also visited the RCF Chess Museum.


May 29, a famous hockey player, three-time world champion as part of the Russian team, forward of the NHL club Washington Capitals, the 2018 Stanley Cup winner Alexander Ovechkin was welcomed as a guest at the Central Chess Club.

Alexander Ovechkin visited the RCF Chess Museum, where the RCF Executive Director Mark Glukhovsky briefed him about the most significant exhibits. The Great Eightthen made the ceremonial move one in Grischuk – Nepomniachtchi, thus giving start to the Moscow FIDE Grand Prix Final Tie-Break.

The tournament guest followed it by answering questions from the press, taking pictures with chess fans and signing autographs.
