Alexey Sarana Goes Ahead in Russian Championship Higher League

Elena Tomilova leads the race in the women's event.


The seventh round games of the Russian Championships Higher League were played in Yaroslavl on July 4. 

The leader has changed in the open event: Alexey Sarana defeated Alexandr Predke to take the sole lead with 5.5 points. Kirill Alekseenko and Alexandr Predke are half a point behind. Twelve players have scored 4.5 points. The following games will be played in the eigth round: Sarana - Alekseenko, Fedoseev - Predke, Sjugirov - Sakaev, Khismatullin - Dreev, Motylev - Kokarev, Chigaev - Grachev, Pridorozhni - Rakhmanov, and Ponkratov - Esipenko.

Elena Tomilova is heading the women's section with 6.5 points. Zarina Shafigullina is trailing be half a point. Polina Shuvalova, Daria Charochkina, Leya Garifullina, and Anastasia Bykova have scored 5 points. The games Tomilova - Garifullina, Bykova - Shafigullina, and Shuvalova - Charochkina will be played in Round 8.
