Arkady Dvorkovich Found Not Guilty of Ethics Code Violation

Ethics Commission’s decision published on fide.com

On September 30, the decision of the FIDE Ethics Commission regarding Georgios Makropoulos’ complaint against his main rival in the struggle for the FIDE presidency Arkady Dvorkovich was published on fide.com. Mr Dvorkovich was found not guilty on the complaint on the basis of the absence of sufficient proof.

Arkady Dvorkovich, FIDE presidential candidate:

- From the very beginning, I was sure that the outcome will be just. The FIDE Ethics Commission regarded everything thoroughly and, of course, I am satisfied with the decision regarding both myself personally and myself as FIDE presidential candidate. My reputation as an absolutely honest candidate is fully approved and we keep on working.

Of course, the hearing was complicated and it lasted for several hours. The Commission listened carefully to all witnesses from all sides. This is a serious experience, which shows the necessity to change some rules of conducting election campaigns, as well as rules of FIDE and national federations’ work.

I know about the negative decision towards the Serbian Chess Federation and its President Mr. Cogoljevic. I have questions regarding the fairness of this decision and I am almost sure that our colleague will file a complaint.

In general, I was concentrated on my election campaign, but there was a group of lawyers and assistants working for me who were fully prepared for the FIDE Ethics Commission meeting.
