Boris Gelfand and Leinier Dominguez Lead Masters Tournament in Netanya

The final round is ahead.


The International Chess Festival is drawing to its close in Netanya. In the penultimate round of the Masters Tournament, Boris Gelfand (Israel) defeated Luke McShane (England) to catch up with the leading Leinier Dominguez (USA) who made a draw with Daniil Dubov (Russia). Peter Svidler (Russia) bested Evgeny Postny (Israel), Pavel Eljanov (Ukraine) defeated Tamir Nabaty (Israel), while the game Rodshtein - Smirin was drawn.  



Standings after Round 7:

1-2. Boris Gelfand, Leinier Dominguez - 5
3-4. Ilia Smirin, Daniil Dubov - 4.5
5-7. Luke McShane, Maxim Rodshtein, Pavel Eljanov - 4
8-9. Peter Svidler, Tamir Nabaty - 3.5
10. Evgeny Postny - 2. 

The final round will be played on July 2 at 11.00 a.m. (Moscow time). Pairings: Dominguez - Gelfand, Nabaty - Dubov, Smirin - Eljanov, McShane - Svidler, and Postny - Rodshtein. The best Israeli player will get the right to play in the final leg of FIDE Grand Prix, which will be held in Tel Aviv in December.  

Mikhail Antipov (Russia) keeps leading the Open Tournament with 7 points out of 8. Tal Baron (Israel) is half a point behind, while 10 players are trailing by 1 point.
