Brunettes Defeat Blondes 37-27

Traditional 8th match held in the Central Chess Club in Moscow.


On the threshold of the International Women's Day, a traditional friendly match Blondes vs. Brunettes took place in the Central Chess Club in Moscow on March 4.  

The match was organized for the 8th time and is considered to be the most beautiful chess event in the Russian capital. Among the participants were the 12th world women's champion, three-time Olympic champion Alexandra Kosteniuk, the 14th world women's champion Anna Ushenina, Olympic champion, world women's blitz champion Valentina Gunina, Olympic and world champion as a member of the Russian women's national team Olga Girya, two-time European women's champion Natalia Zhukova, and many other well-known and strong chess players. 

The tournament was a Scheveningen event with the time control of 3 minutes plus 2 seconds increment. Brunettes won the match 37-27. Alexandra Kosteniuk scored 7 points out of 8, while Anna Ushenina got 6.5 points. 



All participants were dressed in the clothes created by the Russian designer Olga Grinyuk.   

The match was supported by the Russian Chess Federation, Investments and Regions Foundation, and Electrolux Company. The event's partners were designer Olga Grinyuk, the Russian chess school, and a photo studio Woman's Light
