Elena Akhmilovskaya Memorial Started in Zheleznogorsk

The tournament is the stage of the Russian Women’s Cup.

Elena Akhmilovskaya Memorial, the stage of the Russian Women’s Cup, started in Zheleznogorsk, Krasnoyarsk Krai. The tournament is dedicated to the 60th anniversary of the birth of the candidate to the Women’s World Champion’s title and the Olympic Champion as a member of the Soviet Union national team. 

Many well-known chess players are taking part in the event. The rating favorite is the participant of the Russian Women’s Championship Superfinal 2016 Ekaterina Ubiennykh. The Chief Arbiter is IA Maxim Ivakhin. The tournament will finish on July 21. Its prize fund is 300,000 RUR.  

Elena Tomilova, Irina Vasilevich, Sandugach Shaydullina, Daria Rodionova, Nadezhda Kharmunova, Ekaterina Smirnova, and Valentina Timofeeva won their round 1 games.
