European Team Championship, Round 5 Results
Open: Russia-Azerbaijan 2-2, Women: Russia-France 3-1.
The 5th round of the European Team Championship was played on Tuesday, November 17 in Reykjavik.
Russian men's team made a draw with Azerbaijan. All four games were drawn: Svidler-Mamedyarov, Radjabov-Grischuk, Nepomniachtchi-Naiditsch, and Safarli-Jakovenko.
Ukraine defeated Hungary 2.5-1.5, France defeated Spain 3-1, Georgia defeated Serbia with the same score.
After five founds, Russia remains in the lead with 9 points, France, Ukraine, and Georgia have 8 points each.
In the 6th round Russia faces Georgia.
Russian women's team defeated France 3-1. Alexandra Kosteniuk and Valentina Gunina won their games, Ekaterina Lagno and Aleksandra Goryachkina made draws.
Ukraine outplayed Romania 3-1, Georgia defeated Poland 2.5-1.5.
Russia has 10 points after the first five rounds, Ukraine and Georgia are sharing the second place with 8 points.
In the 6th round our women's team will play against Ukraine.
Wednesday, November 18 is a rest day.
