European Junior Championships Begin in Prague

Russia is represented by more than 130 players.

The European Junior Championships are taking place in Prague, Czech Republic, on August 17-28. More than 1,300 players from 49 European countries are participating, including 131 player from Russia. Among the main favorites of the championships are Russians Gordey Kolesov (boys U-8), Aleksandra Shvedova (girls U-8), Ilya Makoveev, Volodar Murzin (boys U-10), Margarita Zvereva (girls U-10), Stefan Pogosyan (boys U-12), Leya Garifullina (girls U-12), Andrey Esipenko, Semyon Lomasov (boys U-14), Aleksandra Maltsevskaya, Elizaveta Solozhenkina, Ekaterina Goltseva (girls U-14), Sergey Lobanov, Aleksey Sorokin (boys U-16), Aleksandra Obolentseva, Aleksandra Dimitrova (girls U-16), Maksim Vavulin (boys U-18), and Darya Rodionova (girls U-18). 

The event is a 9-round Swiss. The games are played on August 18-22 and 24-27, August 23 is a rest day.
