Evgeny Tomashevsky: I am Happy to Help My Native Shore

Medical equipment was sent to the Saratov region.


Donation support from Play for Russia charity tournament is being sent to the dedicated health institutions. 

The runner-up Evgeny Tomashevsky has directed his share to the Saratov city clinical hospital №2 named after V. Razumovsky and the city station of the emergency health services. 3000 medical masks, 1200 medical protective masks FFP2, 800 respirators FFP3, 770 disposable protective suits, 350 disposable medical goggles, 610 high disposable protective overshoes, and 1000 disposable medical gloves worth 2.5 mln. rubles were sent to the hospitals. 700,000 rubles will be shared among the organisations mentioned above and the Saratov regional basic medical college, in which the Centre of additional education of paramedical workers is functioning.    

Evgeny Tomashevsky: "I would like to thank all those who initiated, organised and held this event! Many special thanks to those who made donations! I am happy to be useful for my native region and its oldest medical institutions. I hope that this support will come in handy. The doctors, who are being in the front line of the struggle against COVID-19, are real heroes, and one has to take any chance to help them". 

The donation pool from Play for Russia tournament in favour of health workers has amounted to 25 million 600 thousand rubles.

Regardless of final tournament standings, the total prize pool has been shared equally among regional hospitals (specializing, above all, in the patients suffering from the coronavirus) and charity organizations. Going into the tournament, the participants determined the health institutions to receive financial support. 

Co-supported by the Ministry of Sports of the Russian Federation, the Elena and Gennady Timchenko Charitable Foundation, the RAMAX group of companies" and Gazprombank (Switzerland), Play for Russia tournament was organized by the Chess Federation of Russia at the initiative of its participants.
