FIDE World Amateur Championship Takes Place in Italy
Russian women win three medals.
The FIDE World Amateur Championship was held in Cagliari, Italy, on April 21-30. There were separate championships for categories Under-2300, Under-2000, Under-1700 Open and Women.
The Russian Vilena Popova won the U1700 women's championship with 7.5 points out of 9. The Russian Elizaveta Chetina showed the best result among women in the U2000 category (open and women). Tuyara Adamova (Russia) won a silver medal in the women's competition of the U2300 group (open and women).
