First Games of Moscow Open 2019 Played in RSSU

Most of rating favourites win at the start.

The first round of the XV International RSSU Chess Cup Мoscow Open-2019 was played in the Russian State Social University on January 26. 

In the "A" tournament, a stage of the Russian Cup, most of rating favourites won their games. However, Boris Savchenko lost to Arsen Mnatsakanian, while the games Kutsanyan - Lysyj and Fedorov - Nazaretyan were drawn. 

In the women's tournament, the situation is similar. Only Dinara Dordzhieva and Anastasiya Protopopova lost their games to lower-rated opponents.  

There were no sensations in seniors' events.  

Workshop for International Arbiters, the first one within the framework of a mutual pilot project of FIDE Arbiters' Commission and RCF, has started on January 26 in RSSU. Lecturer is IA, IO Alexander Tkachev (RUS), FIDE Lecturer, Head of Technical Directorate of the Russian Chess Federation. Assistant Lecturer is IA, IO Vadim Tsypin (CAN).
