Head of Sakha Republic Cup is into Round Four

As many as four players are sharing the lead.


Round three of the Head of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) Cup, which is one of the Russian Cup stages, is over in Yakutsk. Demonstrating an unblemished score are GMs Anton Shomoev, Mikhail Kobalia, Boris Grachev as well as Pavel Beketov.

Half a point behind are grandmasters Dmitry Kryakvin, Volodar Murzin, and FIDE Master Dmitry Egorov.

January 26, the Republican Chess and Checkers Center saw GM Dmitry Kryakvin, one of the best Russian children's coaches, deliver a master class dedicated to the topic of isolated pawn and give a simul. As many as twenty-three young athletes, including elementary school pupils, participated in the simul. Alexei Kolokoltsev, a 6th grader from the Yakutsk City Lyceum, and Alexander Ivanov, a 21-year-old chess player from Moscow, drew their games against the grandmaster.

The same day the Republican Chess and Checkers Center gave start to a three-day seminar for arbiters from IA Mikhail Krjukov, a chief arbiter of the Head of the Sakha Republic Cup.
