Ian Nepomniachtchi Approaches the Leader at FIDE Grand Prix Leg in Geneva

The Russian won a beautiful game on his birthday.

In round 8 of the FIDE Grand Prix leg in Geneva Ian Nepomniachtchi, who celebrates his birthday on July 15, defeated Levon Aronian to share the second place. Li Chao outplayed Pentala Harikrishna, Richard Rapport lost to Michael Adams, while Anish Giri won against You Yifan.

The games Radjabov-Riazantsev, Grischuk-Mamedyarov, Gelfand-Eljanov, Jakovenko-Inarkiev, and Salem-Svidler were drawn.
