Ian Nepomniachtchi Shares First Place at WR Chess Masters

The WR Chess Masters super tournament finished in Düsseldorf on 25 February. In the final night round, the leaders Levon Aronian and Dommaraju Gukesh drew their game, which allowed Ian Nepomniactchi, who had defeated Vincent Keymer as Black, to catch up with them.

The games Abdusattorov - So, Duda - Giri, and Praggnanandhaa - Esipenko were drawn.

According to the Regulations, Levon Aronian, Dommaraju Gukesh, and Ian Nepomniachtchi determined the winner on tie-break. Having defeated Gukesh in two games and Nepomniachtchi in one, Aronian was declared winner. Gikesh is second, Nepomniachtchi is third.

Final standings:

1-3. Levon Aronian, Dommaraju Gukesh, Ian Nepomniachtchi - 5.5
4. Wesley So - 4.5
5-10. Vincent Keymer, Anish Giri, Andrey Esipenko, Rameshbabu Praggnanandhaa, Nodirbek Abdusattorov, Jan-Krzysztof Duda - 4.
