Sergey Rublevsky Wins Mayor's Cup in Irkutsk

Vladislav Artemiev finished second half a point behind.

On August 23 the Mayor's Cup - a rapid chess tournament and a part of the Russian Rapid Grand Prix - started in Irkutsk. A large group of strong players arrived from the Chita Superfinals, which includes both players, trainers, and live stream commentators.

Grandmaster Sergey Rublevsky, Head Coach of the Russian Women's team, won the two-day event with 8 points in 9 games. Vladislav Artemiev was half a point behind. The third place was shared by D. Bocharov, I. Lysyj, I. Boachrov, A. Motylev, S. Yudin, A. Shomoev, and P. Ponkratov. 

Alexandra Kosteniuk showed the best result among women - 6.5 points, surpassing Girya, Lagno, and Ubiennykh on the better tie-break score. Dmitry Anikonov became the strongest junior.
