Strongest Rapid Players of Izhevsk Are Determined
Kirill Kozionov won the men's event, Aleksandra Makarenko won the women's tournament.
The municipal chess club of Izhevsk hosted the open city championship in rapid chess among men and women on December 26-27. This traditional tournament concludes the yearly calendar and is played in a Swiss format in 9 rounds. This year it was attended by 70 players from Izhevsk, Igra, Votkinsk, Sharkan, Keza, Malaya Purga, and Zavyalov District.
International master Kirill Kozinov collected 8 points out of 9 and won the first place. Candidate masters Kirill Shumilov and Andrey Makunin shared the second place with 7 points.
National master Aleksandra Makarenko became Izhevsk champion among women. Grandmaster Zoya Severyukhina finished second, candidate master Maria Nosacheva took the bronze.
The 1st category player Daniil Osipov showed the best result among schoolboys. Candidate master Anatoly Sazonov got the senior prize.
