Results of Under-9 Championships of Kaluga Region
58 young chess players participated.
The individual under-9 championships of Kaluga Region took place on February 5-7 in Obninsk. 58 players represented Kaluga, Balabanovo, Ermolino, Maloyaroslavets, Sosnensky and Obninsk.
The boys' event gathered 50 players and ended in favor of Sergey Kalyakin from Obninsk, a student of the Quant Junior Sports School. He collected 8 points out of 9. Damian Krotov from Maloyaroslavets had the same amount of points, but remained second on tie-break. Sergey Sushnov from Kaluga finished third with 7 points.
In the girls' event the podium was occupied by players from Kaluga. Maia Rodionova and Ksenia Pafnucheva scored 6/7, Darya Kartashnova got the third place.
The winners received the right to play in the Central Federal District individual under-9 championship, which takes place in Suzdal, Vladimir Region, on March 28 – April 4.
