Konstantin Chernyshov Celebrates His Anniversary

A famous grandmaster and coach has turned 50. 

On June 11, a famous grandmaster and coach Konstantin Chernyshov celebrates his 50th anniversary. In the 1990s, Konstantin, who became a grandmaster only in 2000, was considered to be an expert in open tournaments. One of his brightest tournament victories is Moscow Open in 2010. Konstantin is known for his fighting, original and uncompromising style of playing. He is the winner of many international tournaments: Balatonberény 1994, Gyöngyös 1996, České Budějovice 1998, Budapest 1999, 2002, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2011, Prešov 1999, Steinitz Memorial 2000, Voronezh 2002, Tárkány 2002, 2009, Salgótarján 2003, Krakow 2003, Zalakaros 2004, 2005, Cappelle-la-Grande 2008, Kostroma 2010, Olomouc 2011, Mariánské Lázně 2012, Balaton 2013. He was a participant of the Russian Cup finals 2007 and 2010.

Being a member of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation, Konstantin Chernyshov is actively participating in a political life of his hometown Voronezh. He played on the first board of the Voronezh team Red October in the Russian Premier League and won a brilliant game against Alexander Grischuk on Vladimir Lenin’s birthday. 

Konstantin Chernyshov is an author of many chess books and articles. An experienced coach heads a Grandmasters’ school in Kostroma.
