Magnus Carlsen Blunders but Joins Leaders in Wijk aan Zee

On January 21, round 8 of Tata Steel Chess was played in Wijk can Zee.

In the main tournament, the leader of the race Shakhriyar Mamedyarov lost to Anish Giri.  Magnus Carlsen blundered a piece in his encounter with Gawain Jones but still managed to win the game to join the leaders. Fabiano Caruana outplayed Hou Yifan. The games Adhiban - Karjakin, Wei Yi - Matlakov, Kramnik - So, and Svidler - Anand were drawn.

Anton Korobov, the leader of Tata Steel Challengers, lost to Bassem Amin and is sharing the first place with Santosh Vidit with 6 points.
