Magnus Carlsen is Triumphant in Kolkata and GCT Series

Ding Liren, Aronian and Vachier-Lagrave also qualified for the final.


Final 9 rounds of the blitz part of the 2019 Tata Steel Chess India, the seventh stage of the Grand Chess Tour, were played in Kolkata on November 26.  

Magnus Carlsen and Hikaru Nakamura scored 12 points out of 18. Ding Liren and Ian Nepomniachtchi are 2 points behind. 



After both rapid and blitz, Magnus Carlsen has got a record number of points - 27. Hikaru Nakamura is trailing by 4 points. Anish Giri and Wesley So shared the third place with 18.5 points.

2. Hikaru Nakamura - 23
3-4. Anish Giri, Wesley So - 18.5
5. Ding Liren - 18
6. Ian Nepomniachtchi - 17
7. Viswanathan Anand - 16
8-9. Santosh Vidit, Harikrishna Pentala - 14.5
10. Levon Aronian - 13.

Magnus Carlsen, Ding Liren, Levon Aronian, and Maxime Vachier-Lagrave showed the best results in the GCT Series and qualified for the final event, which will be held in London on December 2-8.
