Morozevich Wins Rashid Nezhmetdinov Rapid Cup
Russian blitz champion Dmitry Bocharov finishes second equal.
Alexander Morozevich won a rapid chess tournament at the Rashid Nezhmetdinov Cup in Kazan. The Muscovite scored 8 points in 9 games. Four players finished second equal with 7 points: Dmitry Bocharov, Azat Sharafiev, Yakov Geller (all - Russia), and Zaven Andriasian (Armenia). The tie-break gave Bocharov second place, and Sharafiev was third.
Yury Balashov won the senior section, Maria Severina was strongest among women, Timur Fakhrutdinov won the junior section.
The Nezhmetdinov Memorial - a traditional classical chess tournament and a part of the Russian Cup - begins on May 31.
