Moscow Chess Teams Win Russian Championships

The competition is concluded in Sochi.


The Russian Team Championships finished in the Grand Hotel "Zhemchuzhina" in Sochi on 10 May. 

The winner of the Premier League was decided in the final round between SC KPRF (Moscow) and the Moscow Chess Team. The latter was 1 point behind SC KPRF and needed only a victory. Three games ended in a draw (Najer - Grischuk, Zvjaginsev - Grachev, and Alekseev - Demidov), Alexander Riazantsev's win against Vladimir Malakhov was neutralised by Daniil Dubov's victory against Ernesto Inarkiev. The decisive game took place on the fifth board where Pavel Ponkratov defeated Vladimir Potkin thus bringing gold medals to the Moscow Chess Team.   

Final standings:

1. Moscow Chess Team - 15 match points (33.5 board points)
2. SC KPRF - 14 (34.5)
3. Moscow Oblast - 13 (31.5).

In the Women's Championship, the Moscow Chess Team had been leading the race with 1 match point and 2.5 board points ahead its closest pursuers. However, the team didn't content with a draw in the final round and won the match against the Veterans of Russia 4-0! 

Final standings:

1. Moscow Chess Team - 15 (125.5)
2. Moscow Oblast - 14 (22)
3. Moscow Oblast-1 - 12 (23).

1. Temus Team (Moscow) - 15 (24)
2. Malakhit Sports Club (Sverdlovsk Oblast) - 14 (22.5), 
3. Gymnasium named after Е. Primakov (Moscow Oblast) - 13 (21)
4. Jaroslav Prizant Chess School (Moscow Oblast) - 13 (21). 


Youth Championship, boys, Final standings :

1. M. Botvinnik School (Moscow) - 15 (25)
2. Moscow Oblast - 14 (23.5)
3. Blizzard 64 (Saratov Oblast) - 14 (23). 


Youth Championship, girls, Final standings:

1. Alpha Zero (Rostov Oblast) - 14 (23)
2. Krasnodar Krai - 13 (22.5)
3. Yugra - 12 (21.5).
