Moscow Open 2020 Enters Final Straight

Seven rounds are completed.


The seventh round of the RSSU Cup - Moscow Open 2020 was played on January 31. 

In the Tournament B, a stage of the Russian Women's Cup, IM Iulija Osmak (Ukraine) scored the seventh victory in a row by defeating WIM Elena Semenova (Russia).  

The 18-year-old WFM Anna Afonasieva (Russia) is 1 point behind. She is going to face the leader in the ninth round.

IM Anastasia Bodnaruk, WGM Baira Kovanova, IM Marina Guseva, WIM Margarita Schepetkova, WGM Daria Voit, and WFM Margarita Potapova (all from Russia) have scored 5.5 points each.

There are three leaders in the Tournament A, a stage of the Russian Cup. GMs Daniil Lintchevski, Zhamsaran Tsydypov (both from Russia), and Manuel Petrosyan (Armenia) have got 6 points scored.  

In the seventh round, Lintchevski and Tsydypov made draws with GM Jose Alcantara Martinez (Peru) and GM Boris Grachev (Russia) respectively, while Petrosyan defeated IM Ramil Faizrakhmanov (Russia). 

IMs Sergei Lobanov, Gor Airapetian, GM Boris Grachev (all from Russia), GM Jose Alcantara Martinez (Peru), IM Alexandr Triapishko, FM Egor Bykov, GMs Klementy Sychev, Sergey Volkov, Aleksei Pridorizhni (all from Russia), and GM Vitaly Kunin (Germany) are trailing by half a point.

IM Evgeni Dragomarezkij (Russia) has taken the sole lead with 6 points in the RSSU Senior Chess Cup. Seven players are half a point behind. 

There are two more rounds to be played. The Closing Ceremony will be held on February 2.
