Russian Sports Minister Vitaly Mutko Visits FIDE Presidential Board

The Board session took place in Moscow.

Vitaly Mutko, Russian Sports Minister, visited the session of the FIDE Presidential Board, which took place in Moscow during the Candidates tournament. 

“Chess has always been a special kind of sport in Russia”, said the minister. “I assure you that the Russian Chess Federation, supported by the Russian Government, successfully carries out a number of different projects aimed at promotion of chess, including those in the sphere of education. I assure the members of the Presidential Board that Russia is open for international cooperation. We are prepared to host competitions of the highest level and continue to develop our partnership.”

In his return speech, Kirsan Ilyumzhinov thanked the minister for his attention to chess,  introduced members of the Presidential Board to Mr. Mutko, and promised to keep working for the good of chess. 

Vitaly Mutko also supported the RCF bid for the World Schools Chess Championship 2016  in Dagomys. Mutko assured the members of the Presidential Board that the Russian Government will do everything possible to carry out this popular tournament with success. 

Andrey Filatov, the RCF President, thanked the minister for his support, and on behalf of the Russian Chess Federation promised to do their best to organize the event successfully.
