Dmitry Peskov Congratulates Kirsan Ilyumzhinov on 20 Years of FIDE Presidency

The Chairman of the Board of Trustees of RCF sent a telegram to Mr. Ilyumzhinov.

Dmitry Peskov, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of RCF, Press-Secretary of Russian President, congratulated FIDE President Kirsan Ilyumzhinov on 20 years of FIDE presidency. Mr. Peskov pointed out that during Ilyumzhinov's work in FIDE the number of member countries increased from 149 to 186, and the number of rated players increased by 11 times. He added that Russian President Vladimir Putin pays a lot of attention to Russian results in international chess competitions. 

Kirsan Ilyumzhinov was elected as FIDE president in 1995, following the resignation of its previous president Florencio Campomanes.
