Polina Shuvalova Leads Russian Women's Championship Higher League
Sergey Volkov cathces up with Evgeny Romanov in the open section.
Round 5 games of the Russian Championships Higher League are played in Krasnaya Polyana. In the women's event most of the encounters were drawn. The exception is Alina Kashlinskaya's victory over Ekaterina Ubiennykh. As a result, Polina Shuvalova maintains the leadership with 4.5 points out of 5. Alina Kasjlinskaya and Marina Nechaeva are half a point behind. In round 6 Shuvalova will face Kashlinskaya, while Nechaeva will play against Alisa Galliamova (3.5 points). In the open section, many leaders' games were drawn as well, but not all. Pavel Ponkratov lost to Sanan Sjugirov, Sergey Volkov outplayed Ivan Rozum to catch up with Evgeny Romanov in the lead.
In round 6 the encounter Volkov vs. Romanov (both have scored 4 points out of 5) will take place. Other leaders' games will be Dreev-Matlakov, Alekseev-Najer, Shimanov-Dubov, Levin-Sjugirov, and Moiseenko-Zvjaginsev.
