Alexander Riazantsev Wins Rapid Event in St. Petersburg

Sergey Rublevsky was second, Evgeny Alekseev was third.

The main event of the St. Petersburg Summer chess festival – a stage of the Russian Rapid Grand Prix – is now in the books.

Five players finished with 8.5 points. Alexander Riazantsev (2689) had the highest tie-break score and was awarded the first place. Sergey Rublevsky (2718), who won a similar event in Chita just recently, got the second place in St. Petersburg. Local grandmaster Evgeny Alekseev (2692) took the third place. Farrukh Amonatov (2650) and Kirill Stupak (2592) finished 4th and 5th respectively. 

The most famous participants, Peter Svidler (2756) and Alexei Shirov (2659) tied for 6-13th places with 8 points.
