Russian Players Win Nine Medals at World Cadet & Youth Rapid Championships

The World Cadet & Youth Rapid Championship finished in Batumi, Georgia, on 8 June. The event brought together 459 participants, including 49 Russians, who are playing under the FIDE flag. The Russian players won nine medals: four gold, two silver, and three bronze ones. 

Sergey Sklokin became the world rapid champion under 10 years old (open), Kristina Zavivaeva won the U10 girls' event, Taimaz Temirbekov is a silver medallist in the open U12 tournament, while Diana Preobrazhenskaya won the Bronze in the same age category among girls. 

IM Savva Vetokhin came third in the open U14 group, while WFM Anna Shukhman is placed third in the girls' tournament under 14 years old. WFM Alexandra Shvedova is the world rapid champion among girls under 16 years old, GM Volodar Murzin became the winner in the U18 open group, while IM Aleksey Grebnev came second. 

The World Cadet & Youth Blitz Championship will be held in Batumi on 10-11 June.
