Russian Teams Maintain Leadership at European Championship

Decisive round is ahead.


The eighth round of the European Team Championships was played in Batumi on November 1. 

In the open section, the Russian national team made a draw with England (Nikita Vitiugov won, Kirill Alekseenko and Maxim Matlakov made draws, while Dmitry Andreikin lost).

Standings after round 8:

1-2. Ukraine, Russia - 13 match points out of 16, 3. England - 12, 4-6. Armenia, Germany, Croatia - 11.

In the final 9th round, the Russian team will play against Poland, Ukraine will face Croatia, while England's rival will be Germany. 



The Russian women's team drew the match against Armenia (Kateryna Lagno won, Aleksandra Goryachkina and Olga Girya made draws, and Valentina Gunina lost). 

Standings after round 8:

1. Russia - 14 match points out of 16, 2. Georgia - 13, 3. Azerbaijan - 12, 4-5. Armenia, Turkey - 11.

Pairings of the eighth round in the leading group are as follows: Russia - Turkey, Georgia 2 - Georgia 1, Azerbaijan - Armenia.
