Russian Women's Team Defeats Kazakhstan in First Round of World Team Championships

Russian men win match against Iran.

The first round of the 2019 World Team Championships was played in Astana on March 5. In the open section, the Russian team defeated Iran 2.5-1.5 (Vladislav Artemiev won, Sergey Karjakin, Ian Nepomniachtchi, and Dmitry Andreikin made draws).

Other results: India - Sweden 3.5-0.5, England - Kazakhstan 2.5-1.5, Egypt - USA 1-3, China - Azerbaijan 3.5-0.5.

Round 2 pairings:

Sweden - Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan - England, USA - China, Russia - Egypt, India - Iran

Russian women's team won the match against Kazakhstan (Kateryna Lagno and Aleksandra Goryachkina won, while Alexandra Kosteniuk and Valentina Gunina drew their games). 

Other results: China - Hungary 3.5-0.5, Armenia - Egypt 4-0, India - Georgia 2-2, USA - Ukraine 2-2.
