Second Stage of the Grand Chess Tour Starts in Leuven

The second stage of the Grand Chess Tour will take place in Leuven from June 28 till July 2. 

Top world grandmasters Magnus Carlsen (Norway), Wesley So (USA), Vladimir Kramnik (Russia), Maxime Vachier-Lagrave (France), Levon Aronian (Armenia), Viswanathan Anand (India), Anish Giri (Netherlands), Vassily Ivanchuk (Ukraine), Ian Nepomniachtchi (Russia), and Baadur Jobava (Georgia) will play rapid and blitz according to the round-robin system.  

The scoring formula for the first half is 2 points for a win, 1 point for a draw, while in blitz a more standard chess scoring is used.

Total prize fund is $150,000.

The match days: rapid – June 28-30, blitz – June 1-2.

The games start at 3 P.M. (Moscow time).
