Semen Lomasov and Margarita Potapova Lead Russian Junior Championships
Round 8 games played in Sochi.
Round 8 games of the Russian Youth Championship were played in AquaLoo. Ivan Savelyev (U11), Aleksey Grebnev (U13), Dmitry Tsoi (U15), Kirill Shubin and Aram Yetitsyan (U17), and Mikhail Yashmetov, Timur Fakhrutdinov, and Erik Obgolts (U19) are leading the open tournaments.
The leaders in girls' events are Alexandra Shvedova, Anna Shukhman, and Valeria Kleymenova (U11), Margarita Zvereva (U13), Leya Garifullina (U15), and Sofya Smagina and Tatyana Getman (U17). Aleksandra Dimitrova won the U19 girls' championship with one round to go.
The Russian Chess Federation congratulates Aleksandra's trainer Andrey Beletsky and her coaching group under the guidance of Sergey Slugin, her relatives and friends on her wonderful performance in Sochi!
Semen Lomasov is heading the race in the U21 juniors' tournament with 5.5 points out of 8. Alexey Sarana and David Paravyan are trailing by half a point. Margarita Potapova is leading the girls' event with 6 points out of 8. Alexandra Obolentseva is chasing her with 5.5 points.
