Several Chess Events Were Held in Izhevsk on June 12

Evgeny Tomashevsky gave a simul and met the local chess players.

On June 12, several chess events took place in Izhevsk as part of the celebration of the City Day and Russia Day. 

The Government of Udmurtia invited the former European and Russian Champion, World Champion as a member of the Russian national team (2009) grandmaster Evgeny Tomashevsky as well as 64-Chess Review publisher Igor Burshtein to take part in the celebratory events. Evgeny Tomashevsky gave a simultaneous exhibition for all chess amateurs in the central square of Izhevsk. Among those who wanted to play against a famous grandmaster was the acting Head of Udmuria Alexander Brechalov. Eventually, the young Izhevsk citizens Dmitry Yegorov, Zakhar Berezin, Sergey Sterkhov, Head of the Udmutria Chess Federation Mihail Kharin and Svetlana Novoselova from Tyumen managed to make a draw against Evgeny Tomashevsky. 

After the simul, the grandmaster met young chess players (participants of a stage of the Russian Youth Cup - «Centre» Corporation Cup) in the municipal chess club of Izhevsk. 

On June 12, the municipal chess club also hosted a traditional individual and team blitz championship of Izhevsk. The tournament was an 11-round Swiss. 48 chess players, including 1 IM, 2 FMs, and 15 CMs took part in the tournament.

Results: 1. FM Ruslan Poniaev - 10 points out of 11, 2. CM Kirill Shumilov - 8.5, 3-4. Alexander Novoselov, Andrey Okulov - 8, 5. Igor Glazyrin - 7.5.  

Women: 1. WIM Alexandra Makarenko - 7 points, 2. WCM Mariya Nosacheva - 6, 3. Ksenia Svetlova - 5. 

Teams: 1. Pervomaysky District (Poniaev, Shumilov, Shilyaev) - 25.5 points, 2. Oktyabrsky Distrct (Novoselov, Glazyrin, Krylov) - 22.5, 3. Industrialny District (Okulov, Karpitsky, Zhuravlev) - 21. 

Evgeny Tomashevsky rewarded the winners and prize-winners together with the tournament's Chief Arbiter Aleksandr Vatlin. The grandmaster also played a friendly blitz game against the winner of the tournament and won.
