Shakhriyar Mamedyarov and Maxime Vachier-Lagrave Advance to Second Round of Riga Grand Prix

Six matches to be decided on tie-break.

The second games of the first round of the second FIDE Grand Prix leg organized by World Chess in Riga were played July 13.

Shakhriyar Mamedyarov (Azerbaijan) defeated the Russian Daniil Dubov to win the match 1.5-0.5 and advanced to the second round. Maxime Vachier-Lagrave (France) and David Navara (Czech Republic) made a draw in the second game and it means that the French grandmaster won the match 1.5-0.5 to qualify for the next round.

The encounters Grischuk - Vitiugov, Harikrishna - So, Topalov - Nakamura, Yu Yangyi - Aronian, Giri - Karjakin, and Duda - Svidler ended in a draw, meaning that these six matches will be decided in tie-breakers on Sunday.
