The third All-Russian Championship for Orphanages and Boarding Schools "Ascension 2018" will take place in the Resort complex "AquaLoo" (Krasnodar Krai, Sochi, Loo) on March 7-17, 2018.

The organizers are the Russian Chess Federation and the Northern Crown foundation for social, charitable, and cultural projects with the support of the Building and Construction Group of Companies «Don».

This unique tournament is a part of the RCF's charitable project Chess to Orphanages. The project includes the organization of chess classes in the orphanages and boarding schools; the RCF invites or instructs chess pedagogues and provides chess literature and chess sets as well.

President of the Russian Chess Federation Andrey Filatov: «Chess to Orphanages is one of the most important children events in our calendar. Chess not only helps develop useful personal skills, but also provides new acquaintances, impressions and enhances individual capacities. For some children chess can become a career, for others it can be a step to "build" their destiny in a different way. It is a very important and socially significant project for us. I would like to express my enormous gratitude to regional authorities and our partners for their help and support. I hope that our project will be actively developing and the number of its participants will steadily grow".

The winning team will be given the right to form a team of pupils (4 players, at least one of them must be a girl) to take part in the open all-Russian school team competition "Belaya Ladya" (Dagomys, Sochi (Krasnodar Krai), on June 1-9, 2018).

This year 50 teams from 32 Russian regions are expected to take part in the "Ascension 2018" tournament.

The organizers will offer an extensive program with sports competitions, funny animation, contests, and excursions around various sights of Sochi.

Master classes, simultaneous exhibitions, and seminars about teaching chess at schools for accompanying persons are planned as well.
