Galina Strutinskaya Wins World Seniors Championship

The last round of the World Seniors Championship was played on November 21 in Italy.


Famous grandmaster Predrag Nikolic (Bosnia) won the men's 50+ group with 9.5 points in 11 games. Eduardas Rozentalis (Lithuania) finished second with 9 points, Georg Mor (Slovenia) was third with 8.5 points. Russian representative Evgeny Kalegin collected 7.5 points, which was good for the 8th place. 


In the women's 50+ group Galina Strutinskaya (Russia) won the gold with 6 points, surpassing three players due to a better tie-break. 


In the men's 65+ event Vladimir Okhotnik (France) won the gold with 9.5/11. Anatoly Vaisser (France) got the silver, Victor Kupreichik (Belarus) won the bronze.


The legendary Nona Gaprindashvili (Georgia) won the women's 65+ championship with 7 points in 9 games. Tamara Khmiadashvili (Georgia) was second with 6.5 points, Ludmila Tsifanskaya (Israel) finished third with 6 points.
